LYDDEN (St. Mary), is a parish in the union of Dover, hundred of Bewsborough, lathe of St. Augustine, E division of the county of Kent, 5 miles NW from Dover. It is a village and civil parish in the Dover district of Kent. Nearby at Wootton is the Lydden race circuit which was the birthplace of the sport of Rallycross.

Lydden St Mary the Virgin is an Ancient Parish in the Diocese of Canterbury and forms part of the Temple Ewell with Lydden benefice.

The church of St Mary, Church Lane, Lydden has been designated as a grade II* listed building.

The Parish Council meets regularly on the 2nd Thursday of each month and is responsible for not only overseeing all local planning applications but also dealing with any problems that occur in the village.
